Training Pathways

You must submit this FORM to get added to the course tracking system as well as to receive a copy of the training pathways required for your role.

Please note that all roles are required to complete the Core Curriculum listed below. If you are funded for more than one role, you must complete all role-specific trainings for the position you hold.

You can use this link to register for any of our upcoming training offerings listed in the drop-down menus below.

Core Curriculum (required for all roles)

Orientation to the DSSUS HIV Services System (must be completed within 3-months of hire, available asynchronously)
Foundations HIV Services (must be completed within 3-months of hire, available asynchronously)
Customer Service and Engagement (must be completed within 3-months of hire, available asynchronously)
HIV-related Stigma and Discrimination (must be completed within 3-months of hire)
Sexual Health and Gender-Affirming Service Delivery (must be completed within 3-months of hire)
Cultural Humility (must be completed within 6-months of hire)
Trauma-Informed Approaches (must be completed within 6-months of hire)

HIV Alere Determine Proficiency Training
- Must be completed within 6-months of hire

Community Health Workers

Please note this pathway is only available to DSSSUS-funded CHWs. For exceptions, please contact the NJ TACD Operations Manager.

Foundations of Community Health Work
- Must be completed within 6-months of hire
Life Steps Adherence Strategy (Pt. 1 + 2)
- Must be completed within 6-months of hire
CAREWare for DHSTS CHWs
- Must be completed within 6-months of hire

PrEP Navigators & Counselors

PrEP Navigation
- Must be completed within 3-months of hire
Syndemic Counseling Strategies
- Must be completed within 6-months of hire

Case Managers

Screening and Assessment

Notes of Importance for HIV Counselors and Testers:

Individuals must complete the following courses prior to submitting a request for a counselor ID:
- Orientation to the DSSUS HIV Services System (available asynchronously)
- HIV Services (available asynchronously)
- Customer Service and Engagement (available asynchronously)
- HIV-related Stigma and Discrimination
- Sexual Health and Gender-Affirming Service Delivery
The following courses may be taken either prior to or after submitting a request for your counselor ID, so long as they are completed within 6-months of hire:
- Cultural Humility
- Trauma-Informed Approaches
- Syndemic Counseling Strategies
Once you have completed the above HIV Tester training pathway, please email njtacd@jefferson.edu to submit a request for your Counselor ID. Our coordinators review submissions weekly and will forward the information to NJ DOH.
